The word ‘Wee’ is our starting point to explore what it means to work in a small way and what it means to work as part of a collective; as ‘we’.
Of particular importance is the idea of the ‘given’ and the ‘extra’ – at what point does ‘given’ become ‘extra’. Objects and ideas can all exist at a basic level that ensure sustenance, but at what point does the possibility arise to go beyond that which is a given and create something that will be desired by, have meaning and have a value relevant to a wider audience.
All the pieces within this exhibition communicate the possibility of the extra through the manipulation of an object that is considered by the artists to be a given. Within this perceived impossibility there is a relationship of scale with a longing of past fundational use
